One of Africa’s Most Beautiful Places

The negative image of African countries being poor and always in turmoil makes people undermine the natural beauty of Africa. When you think about Africa, you might think about famine, low economic development, and poverty, but Africa is much more than that. The African countries do need to work on a lot of issues, but that should never undermine their beauty.

Tanzania is one of the most important countries in Africa. It is also the most populated in the East African region. Most of this is due to the large expat community living in the country. However, like some of its neighbors, the country also suffers from many issues, however, it is developing. As a result, it has become an excellent place for tourism in Africa.

Culturally Rich Country

People in Tanzania follow age-old traditions and culture. Tanzanians are very polite people with a strong sense of national pride. Even though there is a parliamentary system in the country, the local, smaller areas are still governed by tribes. The country’s traditional foods include different types of rice, fish, and maize porridge.

The older generation in the country usually only speaks Swahili and other local and tribal languages, whereas most of the younger generation can also speak and understand English. The country’s official currency is the Tanzanian Shilling; however, US Dollar is also used and accepted in the country. So if you are a tourist visiting the country, you don’t have to worry about having currency exchange issues.

Many people confuse Dar Es Salam as the capital of Tanzania. It is due to the fact that it is one of the most significant cities in the country and also a major economic hub in Africa. However, no matter how important or economically significant the city is, it is still not the capital of Tanzania. That title goes to Dodoma. Dodoma is also one of the more developed areas in the country. Even Dar Es Salam is a relatively progressive city.

A Hub of Natural Resources

Like most of the other African countries, Tanzania is also rich in natural resources. Global organizations have invested in mining projects in the country. Gold production is one of the most important and most lucrative sectors in Tanzania. In addition to the gold production, it is also a very lucrative region for oil and gas companies.

Traveling In Tanzania

Tanzania boasts some of the most beautiful natural sites in the world. The country is home to several beautiful wildlife parks. Not to mention the highest mountain in Africa named Kilimanjaro. The country has a lot of different parks like Serengeti that are rich in wildlife. However, these wildlife parks are a blessing for the country but also for poachers. As there aren’t, strict regulations in place for all of the wildlife parks, some of the less regulated parks have become a target for poachers.

If you are looking for wildlife-related adventures and a unique experience of enjoying an African safari, then Tanzania is the perfect place to do so. It has a lot to offer to wildlife enthusiasts.

Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s most prominent mountain and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. It is located in north-eastern Tanzania and is part of Kilimanjaro National Park and the larger East African Rift. The highest peak on this mountain is at an altitude of 5895 meters above sea level, with five other major peaks along the rift. This mountain is also one of the Seven Summits that you can climb once you are physically fit.

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti is one of the most popular wildlife parks in Africa. It is located in northern Tanzania and was established in 1951 due to its unique landscape and diverse flora and fauna. There are more than 10,000 different species of plants within the park boundaries, along with thousands of animal species, including birds, insects, etc. The park is visited by over 300000 people every year.

Zanzibar

Zanzibar is an island in the Indian Ocean. It has white sandy beaches and a lot of historical significance attached to it due to its history with slavery and the spice trade. Zanzibar used to be slave traders’ capital before the trade was abolished in the 19th century. The culture on the island is a fusion of African and Arabic cultures. The island has a lot to offer for any nature lover or historian who wants to learn more about African history. Currently, it is one of the most traveled locations in Tanzania, with people visiting the region to enjoy a hot summer day at the beautiful Zanzibar beaches and other attractions like Jozani Forest, Forodhani Market, and the Palace Museum.

Zanzibar is also a unique place because of the range of museums it has. Most people don’t know this, but Queen’s front man Freddie Mercury was born in Stone Town in Zanzibar. So to commemorate the late rock star, there is a Freddie Mercury Museum in Zanzibar. So if you are ever in Tanzania, you should check that out as well. Another place of historical importance to visit in Zanzibar is the House of Wonders. In addition to the attractions mentioned above, there are a lot of amazing sites and attractions in Zanzibar, which make it one of the most visited places in the country.

Is It Safe To Travel In Tanzania?

Traveling to Tanzania is (for the most part) safe. It is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa and has never shied away from welcoming tourists. Although some regions within Tanzania are not fully developed, the country is generally well-developed with good infrastructure for tourist arrival.

The crime rate in the country used to be very high, but in the last decade or so, the governments have been trying to reduce the crime rate. There are still instances of mugging, pickpocketing, and other similar crimes but these activities are prevalent in all parts of the world, even in developed countries.
