Kenya: Unraveling the Mystery of Kenya

Kenya is an interesting country. It has a rich and varied history that many people are not aware of, but it’s also got some really great tourism attractions which make visiting the country worthwhile. Kenya offers visitor’s things like Mt. Kilimanjaro, where you can be in awe of Africa’s tallest mountain; the Maasai Mara National Reserve, which is home to abundant wildlife; and Lake Turkana–the world’s largest desert lake! If you want to know more about this beautiful country, read on for 11 fascinating facts about Kenya!

The Big Five

The Big Five refers to the five most dangerous animals in Africa. They are the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros. If you’re keen on seeing these impressive creatures in their natural habitat while taking a safari through Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, then be sure not to miss out on this experience!

Official Languages of Kenya

Kenya has two official languages: English and Swahili. However, there are many other tribal languages spoken throughout the country as well.

The Maasai

The Maasai are a tribe that is indigenous to Kenya. They are known for their colorful robes and intricate jewelry. If you’re lucky, you might be able to catch a glimpse of them performing one of their traditional dances! The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a great place to be able to photograph them. 

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park is the first national park in Africa, and it’s located just a few miles outside of Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. This park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes and zebras. The Nairobi National Park is perfect for those who are wanting to get up close and personal with some of Africa’s most impressive creatures!

The Ruins at Nakuru National Park

Nakuru National Park is another national park located in Kenya. It was once the site of an ancient lake that had dried up millions of years ago, and today it boasts a volcanic crater. There are a ton of amazing things to see at Nakuru National Park, including the Ruins that remain from an extinct volcano and Lake Elmenteita home to thousands of pink flamingos!

Climbing Mount Kenya

Mount Kenya is Africa’s second highest mountain, and it has five main peaks. It can be quite challenging trying to climb Mount Kenya, but it’s definitely worth the effort if you’re up for a challenge. The views from the top of this mountain are absolutely stunning!

The White Nile

The White Nile is one of the two main tributaries of the Nile River. It starts in Uganda and flows through Kenya before emptying into Lake Victoria. The White Nile is important because it supplies water to the lakes and wetlands along its path, which are home to many different species of animals.

The Indian Ocean

The Indian Ocean is the third-largest ocean on Earth and it’s located to the east of Africa. The Kenyan coastline is a popular destination for beachgoers looking to escape the heat!

Mount Kilimanjaro

At 19,341 feet above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest mountain. It’s located in Tanzania, which shares a border with Kenya. If you’re up for the challenge, you can climb this mighty peak! It’s definitely not an easy feat, but it’s well worth the effort if you’re wanting to add a sense of adventure and excitement in your life.

Lake Turkana

Lake Turkana is located in northwestern Kenya near the Ethiopian border. At over 400 miles long, it’s the world’s largest desert lake. The Lake Turkana National Parks are home to thousands of animals, including hippos. The local tribes who live near Lake Turkana make their living by fishing and farming the surrounding lands!

Shopping Experience

If you love shopping, then Kenya is the perfect place for you to visit! There are many markets and bazaars where visitors can find all kinds of souvenirs, such as beads and leather goods. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for some unique treasures!

The Great Rift Valley 

The Great Rift Valley is a massive geological formation that stretches for over 3000 miles from the Middle East to Mozambique. Its home to many of Kenya’s most popular tourist destinations, including Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The Great Rift Valley is such a unique and beautiful place!

The Kenyan Flag

The Kenyan flag consists of three horizontal stripes: black, red and green. The black stripe represents the African people, the red stripe represents their blood shed during liberation struggles, and the green stripe represents hope for the future. The Kenyan flag is a symbol of the nation’s proud history and bright future!

Kenya’s Wildlife

Kenya is home to thousands of different species, including lions and elephants! There are so many amazing animals located in Kenya that it would be impossible for me to list them all here–you’ll just have to go see them yourself. Kenya’s wildlife will leave you absolutely speechless with their beauty and power!

Hunting Is Illegal In Kenya

Many animal lovers and environmentalists agree that hunting is a cruel sport. Unfortunately, many people in Kenya do engage in this activity illegally to make money. It’s definitely not something we recommend doing while traveling through the country!

One of the Best Safari Destination in Africa

With its beautiful landscapes and thousands of wild animals, Kenya is definitely one of the best safari destinations in all of Africa! If you love adventure and excitement, then this is a must-see for you. It will leave your heart pounding with joy as well as sadness from seeing such amazing creatures killed by hunters.
